Milling head (1)-What is universal milling head
Universal milling head, also known as milling head or universal angle head, is a machine tool accessory, the machine tool can be placed on the milling head after the tool rotation centerline and spindle rotation centerline into the angle of the workpiece. Originally produced in Europe, it is now widely used in various fields of machining, such as aviation, automobile and mold. The use of milling head, without changing the structure of the machine tool can increase its processing range and adaptability, so that some of the traditional methods difficult to complete the processing can be achieved, and can reduce the workpiece repeatability.It can also reduce the repeated clamping of workpieces and improve machining accuracy and efficiency.
They are mainly used in machining centers and gantry milling machines, where light duty can be installed in the tool magazine and can be freely converted between the tool magazine and the machine spindle; medium and heavy duty have greater rigidity and torque, and can be applied to most machining needs.
Because the milling head expands the performance of the machine, it is equivalent to adding an additional axis to the machine, and is even more practical than the fourth axis in some cases where large workpieces are not easily turned or where high precision is required.
